Drawing is Easy, Communicating is
Difficult
"Drawing is Easy, Communicating is
Difficult" are mixed media compositions relating ideas of
beauty, art and information. Letterpress text printed on Rives
BFK paper was stretched onto
twelve panels. Panels were then drawn on with colored ink and pen
using slightly abstracted appropriated imagery from dictionaries.
Text from the images was printed on
white card stock for audience participation and consumption. Installed,
the
twelve
pieces were spaced evenly
and rather far apart on two walls. A table was placed at
the far end of the room holding stacks of card stock definitions
and ink pens for applying one's own images.

Iris
Porter lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia; is a student and works as a
librarian at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design; plays scrabble
and is in the band The Culottes. She spent the Winter of 2005
taking courses in 16mm Film and Advanced Printed Matter.
