White Tigers Chase Bunnies through InterdimensionalPortals
& Mothlight

White Tigers Chase Bunnies through Interdimensional Portals explores issues of digital motion as well as the multiple ways symbols of our visual culture can be construed. Rabbits are symbolic of many things; in visual art forms, they are often utilized as fertility symbols, or as hunted and sacrificed creatures. I wanted to remove the rabbit from its context of space, time, and singularity and bring it into an artificially constructed reality. The rabbit is pursued through digital landscapes by a white tiger, which hunts it through clouds of animated pixels.

With Mothlight, I attempted to recreate the experimental works of Stan Brakhage using digital techniques. I wanted to rebuild an aesthetic originally achieved using various animation decks, film development techniques, and optical printing using digital tools.

About Mark Ramos

Mark Ramos is a 26 year-old artist and musician currently living in Brooklyn, NY. He has studied video/new genres at Hampshire College and the San Francisco Art Institute. He is interested in using video and digital media to create artificial environments that only reference reality, and understanding social and cultural issues by removing them from their native visual landscape. He is fascinated by video’s ability to flatten and distort forms and reproduce colors that don't occur in nature. He also plays drums in the band Telepathic and the All-Seeing Eye.
